I've been a client with Jenna for over a year and I can say that her patterns are exceptional. It's like we almost get my samples done within the first few patterns/ revisions. She's very sweet and kind and always willing to take hard challenges. One thing I have to say is that she is very busy with her clients so keep in mind patterns will take time. I recommend this service to anyone looking to get a pattern done but be sure to have your homework done so you can make both yours and jennas life more easier!

I can't say enough positive comments about Jenna at Pattern Maker & Grading in LA. She has helped me navigate my design while offering honest opinions and help. I saw her for the first time right before the lockdown from COVID -19 in March, and she still delivered my patterns and a prototype, even with everything going on. She is responsive, kind, and is extremely talented. She took on my project when a lot of others were afraid to do so and for that I am forever grateful. Smh. I just wish prejudiced people would be more forthcoming so I don't waste my time.

I emailed Jenna about a bustier pattern. She said she could do bustiers, but that I should come in for an appointment so she could see the design and give me an estimate. I fought traffic to get downtown, paid for parking, and walked several blocks down Los Angels St. As soon as I showed her a basic sketch of the silhouette, she tells me she doesn't do bustiers because it's complicated and time consuming. She said they mostly specialize in grading/markers. She apologized for wasting my time, ushered me out the door, and pointed out other pattern making services in the building.

I was flummoxed. What kind of business chases away customers to other businesses. Then it hit me. My theory...she wasn't expecting a black person, and when she got one, to her dismay, she decided to get me out of there as quickly as possible. To test my theory, I came back minutes later and let her know I would need grading/marker services for my upcoming fall collection (this is actually true). She and her husband both looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language, and then let me know they were sorry and couldn't help me. (As if minutes ago they didn't tell me they specialize in grading and production markers)

Hey Jenna, maybe you should just put a notice on your website about which races you do business with. Good luck, and God bless.

Sadly, I called today just to see if I could get a consultation to start my new project and the woman who answered first told me no she can’t meet me “Today” because she was out of town. To which I responded, I am more interested in meeting with her in the near future, and she paused for a second to tell me “no because she closed her business”?

This seems shady because people are still actively writing reviews and the website and google hours are still up and running. If she’s not interested in working with people maybe find a different excuse or just take your website and information down so they don’t call this “business.”

Super Disappointed in this lady, I was excited because she came highly referred and apparently has great reviews. But sadly I guess not everyone’s experience will be the same.

First off let me tell you that she is very deceiving. She won’t answer questions over the phone which pretty much forces you to drive all the way to LA! I drove two
Hours to meet with her only for her to tell me that she only speaks with people for free for the first 10 minutes... after that she charges $50 every 30 minutes cause she expects you to know what you want. Which is crazy cause that’s the point of her being a pattern maker!!! In addition to that when we spoke on the phone I made it clear that we were designing hoodies and would bring 4 different styles for reference which she agreed to and said that was a good idea. So when we start showing her the hoodies (which over the phone she said are very simple to make) she starts telling us we need 3 different styles because her minimum to order is $500. She then proceeds to say, that it’s too complicated and that it’s going to be too expensive for us, when we made it clear that money wasn’t the issue. She then said I can’t do this it’s too complicated. But yet she’s the one that said hoodies were very easy and her flat rate was $180 so because it was such a small amount she expected us to order 3 once again we said ok. But then SHE decides that it’s to expensive for US because each step would have a fee and it was going to get expensive and stands up and walked us straight out of her room and said maybe find someone else.

I was so taken back by this and I told her this was very unprofessional of her. I told her I drove two hours for her to do this to us and I was very disappointed How she was behaving. Specially since I went with high expectations because I was referred to her by a friend who is a well know designer so I was excited.

I had to call my friend and my friend was so embarrassed and apologized so much and said she would never refer anyone to her again.

I would never recommend her and I usually don’t do this but she really was just very unprofessional and the way she treated us was just very rude and seemed like she was just not willing to make a pattern for high end street clothing designs and much less for the people bringing it in.
